Campbellsville Police responded to Indian Trail trailer park in reference trespassing and someone starting a fire behind a residence. After a brief investigation, officers came into contact with 54 year old Danny Tungate of Indian Trail trailer park. Mr. Tungate became disorderly and as officers were attempting to place him under arrest, Mr. Tungate ran back into his residence. As officers entered the residence after Mr. Tungate, they were met by Mr. Tungate swinging a shovel and a knife at them. With the assistance of Taylor County Sheriff’s Deputies and speaking with Mr. Tungate for several minutes, he was finally taken into custody without incident. Mr. Tungate was arrested and transported to the Taylor County Detention Center where he was charged with the following:
Disorderly Conduct
Resisting Arrest
Wanton Endangerment 1st degree
Assault 3rd degree (on police officer)

Our hearts are heavy today. The Big Dawg (Shoreline Communications) radio has lost a family member, Mike Wilson, who died Saturday morning after a brief illness.
Mike moved to Green County in 1972 and built WGRK AM 1550 on top of Buckner Hill in Greensburg.
On New Year's Eve 1976 a fire destroyed the control studio of the radio station and, after the remodel construction was completed, Mike put a new FM Station on the air called Stereo 103-WGRK FM. Greensburg and all of Central Kentucky now had a new station that played mixed country and rock, broadcasting in FM Stereo.
In 1983 Mike switched the format on WGRK FM to all country and renamed the station K-Country FM 103.1.
The station achieved overnight success, quickly racing to the number one spot in the Arbitron rankings.
In 1993 Mike applied for and received the call letters "WAKY" the calls were put on the Greensburg AM and shortly thereafter he purchased WMQQ 102.7 in Springfield Ky and renamed it to WAKY FM. (Those calls are now in Elizabethtown on 103.5)
In 1996 WGRK-Country and WAKY AM/FM were sold to Commonwealth Broadcasting WGRK FM was moved out of Greensburg and relocated to Campbellsville where it still operates today on a different frequency.
In 2006 Shoreline Communications purchased 99.9 The Big Dawg and Mike was hired and returned to radio where we were able to work together again.
Mike dedicated his heart and soul to serving people and treating everyone with respect and at anytime time of the day Mike would be on the air doing weather or covering meetings.
Mike was a true professional and a man of ethics and I'll forever be grateful that he gave me my first radio job over 40 years ago.
The Funeral is scheduled for 11am Friday at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville, visatation begins Thursday at 5pm. |
Liberty, KY (December 24, 2019) - On December 22, 2019 at approximately 3:20 PM EST Trooper Billy Begley was on routine patrol 5 miles west of Liberty on KY 206 when he initiated a traffic stop on a 2005 Dodge pickup for a registration violation. Tpr. Begley made contact with the driver, 32 year old Buddy Bernard of Russell Springs, KY. Consent to search the vehicle was given resulting in Tpr Begley locating several small bags containing suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, syringes and prescription medications. Bernard was arrested and charged with No registration receipt, no registration plate, no insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance 1st offense, failure to notify address change to the department of transportation, owner to notify clerk of residence or name change, possession of a controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (methamphetamine), and possession of marijuana. Bernard was lodged in the Casey County Detention Center.
The Adair County Sheriffs Office has obtained warrants for the arrest of armed robbery suspects at Dollar General Store.
34 year old Timothy Smith entered into the Dollar General store located at 7775 Campbellsville Rd in Adair County. Upon entering the store, Smith went behind the counter, produced a handgun and demanded cash. Smith then fled the scene with 34 year old Brittni Smith, in a silver Chevrolet Equinox toward Taylor County where they stole two additional vehicles.
The Adair County Sheriffs Office swore out warrants on Friday morning for the arrest of Timothy and Brittni Smith of Evansville, Indiana. The warrants are for armed robbery 1st degree.
Commonwealth Attorney Brian Wright has authorized full extradition of Timothy Smith and Brittni Smith who are married, to be brought back to Adair County to face these charges wherever they are caught.
Chief Deputy Justin Cross and Sheriff Brockman are investigating incident and was assisted by Kentucky State Police and Campbellsville Police Officer Ryan Jewel.
